I leave to vacate with my family for a week this Saturday and I always bring some good reading with me. Here are a few of my books for this year. I challenge you to choose 1 to pursue, read all 3, or find something of your own that challenges you in your walk with HIM to read this summer.
Remember, Readers are leaders...
A Resource: Teen Text by Dr. Ed Young
Available in all Second Baptist Bookstores, Dr Young developed this resource for students to use post Beach Retreat this year to continue in their daily time with God. Simple, readable, but powerful - this book will challenge students to take time to be with God daily for 7 weeks. Grab one for $5 and put it in your student's hands.A Read: Radical by David Platt
This summer my team and I are reading through this book that is challenging us to rethink our our approach to following after Christ. If you are looking for something to challenge you as it has challenged me this is a good read. One commentary on the inside flyleaf states, "Radical will cause you to bounce on a spectrum between two words: ouch and amen. Tough truths do that. They challenge us to examine our lives and then choose the lasting over the temporary. Read Radical if you're ready to live differently."
A Re-Read: Words Kids Need to Hear by David Stall
I read this one about a year and 1/2 ago, but as my kids grow and so does my family I want things like this to always be present on this Dad's mind. Solid practical tips for any Mom, Dad, or soon to be. I can always work at my #1 job - being the husband to my beautiful wife, and a Father to my 3 kiddos! Here's to that!
