Your Tactics...

I just love football season. My fantasy draft is next Tuesday, college football starts up next Saturday, HS football games start this weekend...wow, what a great time of year! Football is such an intriguing sport because it takes the team to be successful. No ONE player does it all themselves - everyone must sacrifice, do their part, and know their role for the team, for the play, to be a success. - - - What a great picture of our lives as Christ followers!

It's fall, it's football season, it's back to school time...a good time to ask these questions:
  • What are your tactics for life?
  • Do you have a game plan? A play?
  • If someone asked you, "What is your purpose?" What would you say?
  • What role do you play on the team for Christ? Are you fulfilling that role?
This weekend we kick off a 2 week series in our student ministry called "Tactics." Were going to be asking ourselves two very direct and life-impacting,self-impacting, school-impacting, community-impacting questions:

1. What is my role in the Body of Christ? (Team Tactics)
2. What is my role in my own personal growth in Christ? ((Personal Tactics)

Around here we talk about 3 words: LIVE, GIVE, and GROW

Our Team Tactic is:
Shift Student Ministry is building a generation of students who LIVE passionately for Jesus in a way that influences others, who GIVE of themselves and GROW in Christ’s love.
We find our basis for that vision in scripture where Jesus Himself gave us these marching orders, this gameplan:
Matthew 28:19-20
19Therefore go (LIVE) and make disciples (GIVE of yourself) of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey (GROW) everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
A gameplan is important, a well drawn up play is good, but are you living out God's gameplan in your life? What is your ministry game plan? What vision has God given to your leadership? Are you on board? Are yo in the game?
I love this video on how one player can make all the difference!
