We've just started a series on Worship for our JHigh students. So excited and hopeful to see them grow in this area. I wanted to simply share some of what happened last night @ Motion.



Week 1 notes:

WHAT IS THE ONE THING GOD DESIRES THAT ONLY YOU CAN GIVE?
YOUR WORSHIP.

WHY IS WORSHIP SO IMPORTANT?
THERE IS A WAR FOR YOUR WORSHIP.

Exodus 20:3-5
You shall have no other gods before me. "You shall not make for yourself idols…You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God.

Jealous-Demanding exclusive devotion to Himself

WHAT IN YOUR LIFE DO YOU VALUE THE MOST?
YOU WERE CREATED TO WORSHIP.

Luke 19:38-40
Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!" "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

TWO IMPORTANT PARTS OF Worship
THE AUDIENCE. We think it's those of us in the crowd, but it's really God Himself!
THE PERFORMER. We think it's those on stage leading, but its truly us who are the performers.

WHAT IS WORSHIP?
WORSHIP IS A RESPONSE TO WHO GOD IS AND WHAT HE HAS DONE.

Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship

WHO IS GOD AND WHAT HAS HE DONE?
