Are you a Cheater??

2 Quick Questions:
1. Are you a follower of Jesus Christ? / Have You placed your trust in Him?
2. Do you regularly darken the door of a church?

If you answered yes to both of those then I have one more question for you...
Are you a Cheater??

Now no one would intentionally desire to be described as a cheater, but for many of us in the church that's where we land. Not intentionally, but we cheat nonetheless; whether you are a student, a parent, or anywhere in between - we tend to cheat. It happens either because we don't understand our role in the church, or because we have not been challenged to fulfill our function in the Body of Christ.

Paul said it this way, "from him the whole body joined and held together by every supporting ligament grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Ephesians 4:16

Basically, when we are not functioning in the Body (the Church) as Christ intends we are cheating the Body from being all it could be. It's less supported, less growing, less built up in love. Here at Second we translate that into a thing we call 1+1+1. It's the challenge that every member would find 1 hour of worship, 1 hour of Bible Study, and 1 hour of service in the Body.

In our student ministry over the past 3 weeks we have been doing a series called "Bodily Functions" as we look at how the Body is supposed to function. We've challenged every person to evaluate their role in the church and if they are functioning in that role or not.

What about you? Are you cheating? Here are some questions that may reveal where you are... -

- Can you clearly describe you role in the church?
- Are you functioning in that role or are you simply dead weight?
- Have you met the 1+1+1 challenge?
- What you others identify as you place of service?
- Would the church be different / less effective if you were not a part of it? p>

My advice, "Do Something!" Start serving somewhere, if it does not fit you, find another place, and another, and another until you find your "FIT" in the Body of Christ!
Go be the Body!

Brian
