Back to the Bulldogs

Isn't is true that no matter how far you travel or how much you change you will always live in light of where you came from and who you were? If find it interesting that as we continue to follow after Christ who we truly are really comes to the surface.

So, that being said, this weekend is my 10 year High School reunion. Erin and I are packing up the car, the kids, and headed back to the land of the bulldogs, Nederland Texas, my home.

As I've been preparing for this thing called a HS reunion I'm reminded of all my old friends from HS who must have changed somewhat by now. I'm also reminded that Paul understood what it meant to see people differently (even if it is 10 years later)...

Paul challenges, "So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

Today I ponder the simple fact that God has taken the old man, the used car, that I once was and has given me a new perspective. Today, I embrace the wonder of what it meant for me to grow up and experience life in a uniquely amazing place like Nederland, and I praise God that He has given me a purpose greater than all others:

Paul goes on to say, "all this from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."

My goal is to be about that this weekend.

Here's to HS reunions!
