Over the last 7 weeks in our Student Minsitry we have been taking a close look at who GOD_IS.
We worship Him, We study His Word, He created all we see, we (at times) revolve our lives around Him, we call Him LORD, but who is HE? In this series we’re taking a look at the most basic doctrines of our faith, and some foundational descriptions of the character of the Almighty, the Creator, the Alpha and Omega – God. Here is where we've been...
GOD_IS TRINITY
GOD_IS CREATOR
GOD_IS LOVE
GOD_IS JUDGE
GOD_IS COME (THE INCARNATION)
GOD_IS SAVIOR
This week we are wrapping up the GOD_IS series by looking at How God speaks to us about Himself. God_IS speaking. The question is, “are you listening…do you know what to listen to?”
In case you are interested here are our teaching notes for the weekend:
Opening Video: Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail…God speaks! (1min)
After the video ask: If God really did come out of the clouds and speak to you…what do you think he would say to you?
Series recap: The last 6 weeks we have been looking at who GOD_IS and debunking some of the myths about who God_IS NOT. How could we know He is any of those things is he never spoke up about himself?
- God’s not silent about things
- He doesn’t just watch and not get involved
- He has SHOUTED about himself and about life and how to live it
- The 1st words of Creation in Gen 1:3 are, “and GOD SAID…”
- The question is…are you listening?
Illustration: 2 stories 1. The 1st love note I trashed 2. My daughter's 1st words
- When it comes to God speaking which story best describes the way you respond?
– Do you ignore Him, maybe out of fear, embarrassment, or pride…and go about your life? OR
– Do you stop and listen, pay attention, treat it like it is the most important thing in the world?
Read Hebrews 1:1-2

Read Hebrews 1:1-2
Then in Hebrews Chapter 2 we see…
“Therefore we must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”
How does God speak to us?
1. In General Revelation
Creation
The existence of a Moral law (right/wrong)
2. In Specific Revelation
Prophets – to reveal God’s will, our need for Christ
Christ – to reveal God’s salvation plan
Bible Authors – to reveal how to live For Christ
Read again Hebrews 1:1 skip to Hebrew 2:1
His Word - 2 Tim 3:16
Holy Spirit
3. Through Your Revelation
· God’s not revealing anything new
· Old saying, “if it’s new it ain’t true”
· HE DOES – reveal himself to the world through those who have through faith become his Children
2 Corinthains 3:12-18
- God revealed himself to Moses – spoke to Moses on the mountain
- Moses’ response – cover his face as he came down to tell others about God
- Even today – without Christ people can’t get the full picture of God’s revelation
- As Christ followers we can reflect God’s glory, his story, His revelation to the world
What keeps us from doing that??
ANS: we wear masks! We’re not transparent
Closing illustration: video “What would God say if he could speak? man on the street
“Therefore we must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”

This week's Life Group discussion questions:
If God’s general revelation enough to explain who God_IS? Why? Why not?
What is something God has spoken to you lately? How do you know it’s from God? ( it matches up with His Word)
Give one real life example of General Revelation, Specific Revelation and How God uses you to reveal Himself to the world?
Read Romans 10:14 as a group. Do you see yourself as God’s messenger of his Revelation…his mouthpiece?
What message do you believe God desires for you to speak up about for Him? To who?
What masks do we wear that keep us from having “unveiled faces”
