3 lies the world has told us about sex…
1. SEX IS BAD
Genesis 1:31 – “God saw everything that he had made and it was very good.”
1 Timothy 4:4 “For everything God Created is good”
Adam & Eve
God was not shocked by Adam and Eve’s sex life
Sex was God’s idea
Genesis 1:28 “God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it”
God is pleased when his people engage in sex that Honors Him
2. SEX IS LIMITLESS
the limits are:
- Man & Woman
- In Marriage
Lie – more sex you have the better, anyhow, anywhere, anyone. No rules.
We take God’s Good gift & twist it into something He never intended
Genesis 2:24 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”
Sex OUTSIDE OF God’s plan has great consequences.

Physical Consequences
Did you know…
· 1 in 4 teenagers will be infected with a STD before graduating from HS
· Each day 33,000 Americans become infected with an STD, and 22, 00 of those are 15-25 yrs old
· 2 STD’s human papillovirus (causes cervical cancer) and Chlamydia (causes infertility) are carried by at least 1 of 3 teenage girls who have had sex
· There are not 50 known STD’s. Some are itchy, burning, painful and even deadly. Some can make you sterile, Some are incurable.
Every day 2,700 teens get pregnant (1 million a year)
3/10 choose to abort
Yet most think , “That could never happen to me! That happens to other people.”
Emotional Consequences
Past Regrets – most don’t end up marrying
Guilt – damage self image / influence
No sexual sin God cannot forgive
Fear of Commitment – when you break up
Low self-esteem
Despair – STD, baby outside marriage, abortion, or reputation can lead to hopelessness
Spiritual Consequences
Withdraw from God
Impacts your witness
Lowers your standards
Affect your marriage
Cause you pain
3. SEX HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR
RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
God does have something to say about sex…
1 Thess 4:3-8
It is God's will that you should be sanctified
(set apart for God and HIS purposes, HIS plan for your life)
that you should avoid sexual immorality
- not just avoioding sex
- fleeing from all sexual things outside of marriage!
4that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;
- stats are same inside church as outside church
- time to stand up – make a change
- how can a world know that Christ is real in your life IF YOUR SEX LIFE DISHONORS HIM
- stand up honor God with your sex life...a pure sex life
- but Brian “I’ve gone too far”…God is a God who can work a miracle in your life…allow HIM to do that
6and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him.
- Abusing sex in relationships is SELFISH at it's core
- Pornography= selfish to woman forced into that lifestyle, to your future spouse
7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
- God calls you to live above
- Are you called by God? If you have a relationship with Christ you are called by God to live pure and holy.
- Does He Reign supreme in your life? In the area of sex?
-Let God change you in this are of sex?
8Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Saying no to purity is saying no to God's plan
- God’s way, God’s will, God’s power!
God’s gift of sex comes with an incredible instruction book!
– only thing more sad then the hurt of misusing the gift is throwing out the instruction book

God’s way is narrow and very few people willing to follow it
World’s path is wide and many people follow it
