I love teams. Whether it's the 1939 A&M National Champions, my family team, or the team I serve on here at Second. I love teamwork, coming together to accomplish much more than I could on my own, doing my part to add to the whole. I love the bonds teams develop with each other when they play in the trenches together, and the challenge of calling individuals to be a team.
Every time our Global Student Ministry Team here at Second gathers some great wisdom is passed on & today Eric passed on some insight on 7 fatal flaws of teammates. 7 Great potholes to avoid!
1. The Comparison Game: Teammates don't compare - we encourage!
2. High Maintenance Mavericks: Someone who says, "I will get things done, but it will cost everyone more than it's worth along the way" may contribute to the cause, but isn't contributing to the team.
3. Loose Lips sink ships: Live by the principle of the good report. Be positive; watch your words.
4. Don't count on me ... all the time. Unpredictable players make everybody unhappy. Includes disloyalty to leadership. Teammates need to know they can count on you consistently.
5. Smokers not welcome! Some people cultivate controversy and have the unique ability to make small fires big fires. They are all SMOKERS!
6. Power plays and "positioning": Just because you are setting yourself for success doesn't make you a team player! Doesn't make friends either.
7. Work done in the "flesh": in any other line of work this would not need to be in this list, but as we do God's work there is no room for doing anything that starts with us. We need to be prayed up when we show up.
Are you a team player?

Has it really been 80 years since A&M has won a championship?
